Those Folk

30th May 2024, 7.30pm

“A super pleasant wander through the tall grass”  Triple J

Authentic, entertaining and full of personality, Clare Quinn (AUS) and Lawrence Menard (USA) are the transpacific-troubadours known as ‘Those Folk.’ A partnership forged in the fires of folk music, Those Folk explore sounds from the 1960’s folk revival and contemporary Americana music. Breathtaking vocal harmonies are featured alongside rich instrumental work performed on guitars, accordion, mandolin and banjo. Lawrence & Clare are charismatic storytellers who make audience members feel like fast friends. As songwriters they delve into love, hope, belonging, and the human condition. As performers they enthral, enchant, and leave a lasting impression.

Their career highlights include touring of intimate concert venues around the US as well as performances at the Woodford Folk Festival, The Gympie Music Muster and Caloundra Music Festival. In 2022 Those Folk performed to a full house at the prestigious historic venue, Brisbane City Hall. 2023 saw Those Folk kicked off the year performing a coveted tour of theatres and town halls of South East Queensland with Red Chair booking agency before a tour of the UK in April  with The Buffalo Skinners, which included several sell out concerts. Lawrence & Clare have been compared to the likes of Simon & Garfunkel and Gillian Welch & Dave Rawlings. Those Folk make not just folk music, but music for all sorts of folk.
